Message As a '87 Carrera, '97 Supra TT and'93 Nissan TT owner, I have a bit of perspective here. The Porsche is an incredibly responsive and fun sports car, but a Z32 has much better potential as a road course car. Update your Z's brakes, however!

As for the Porsche, I would get the best, lowest mileage 87-89 911 that you can afford. The 87-89 models have the strong G50 transmission, hydraulic clutch and nearly indestructible 3.2 liter engine. My next choice would be the 84-86 Carrera which has the updated DME Motronic engine control compared to the earlier 911SC models.

Many 911 Porsches have been lovingly cared for, so it won't be a problem finding a nice one. Be patient.

Suggested reading: Porsche 911 Performance Handbook by Bruce Anderson. Try Amazon.com for other Porsche books.

Good luck,
Dean
